Rivera ruins the engineered suspense with her snarky textbox in panel 4. I’m feeling generous today, so you can discuss the police officer, if you wish.

Discuss the police officer? Where do I start?
What’s up with his right arm? Is that an empty sleeve?
What is in his left hand? A billy club? An odd choice for a contemporary police officer. It kind of resembles an exclamation point. “Stop, or I’ll club you with punctuation!”
Is he wearing a badge or a miniature version of Captain America’s shield? Way too big for a police badge.
The fire still appears to be quite a distance away. What is the police officer’s problem? Are no pictures of the fire allowed?
