About

In these times of confusion and ambiguity, where can we turn for TRUE NORTH?  I submit that MARK TRAIL embodies only the best and purest of virtues, uncompromised and uncomplicated by the world around us.  In times of strife and trouble, when facing even the most needlesome of crossroads, we only need ask WWMD, What Would Mark Do?

For readers of the Comics Curmudgeon, I tip my hat to you, Josh, whose comments I have enjoyed for years now… and consider my inspiration to this “Trail only” Treatment. – Dennis Williams, this blog’s creator.

Notes from George Atkins (blog maintainer): This blog is an educational and hobby site, dedicated to following and discussing the adventures of Mark Trail and his family in his self-named comic strip.  The MARK TRAIL comic strip is published by the North American Syndicate, Inc., a subsidiary of King Features Syndicate, which is owned by Hearst Communications.

I inherited this blog site from Dennis Williams when he saw no further reason to continue. Dennis had been publishing this blog since January 2013 and retired in early April 2021. That’s a lot of commentary! Thank you Dennis, for the site and the great discussions.

In addition to the Comics Curmudgeon, I find inspiration in my own twisted mind and Dennis’s earlier posts. Clearly, I failed to heed his recommendation to me for keeping things brief. Anyway, I’ve also gained much from the information found in Mark Carlson-Ghost’s site, Mark Trail Confidential. If you want to learn more about Mark Trail’s back story, it’s the best online source available.

  1. Where is Andy? He’s the world’s oldest dog, surprising since the larger the dog the shorter the life. And, Mark, unless you are actually swimming, keep your shirt on.

  2. Dennis Williams here… Today I officially passed the Torch and site ownership to one George K. Atkins who has kept the flame going for a number years now and has managed to weather the transition from James Allen to Jules Rivera… Thanks, George, and Happy Trails to you!
