As promised, Manatees… and Boat issues

Poor scarred Marky… his father let him down time and again, leaving him with a plethora of unresolved “Daddy Issues.” Maybe Mark should have declined the assignment after all… but then there wouldn’t be any story to tell…
…And we have been in the “Speed Boat” for days now, but somehow haven’t cleared the dock?

I like how Mark’s dad has a little pot-belly…
“I’m leaving” (and taking the keys with me?) One thing about this new version of Mark Trail is that one really has to take time to establish what actions are taking place… Mark is “Snatching” the keys and then brandishing them in the last panel??
And Mark, what makes you think that your father Happy Trail gives a fig about the natural world, Manatees in particular? (Cue the Sunday strip, please, where we will no doubt learn about the Manatee and man’s impact on the species…) Poor Niecy, it’s like she has heard this all before… and Mark, a journalist needs to maintain distance and objectivity…
