Everybody leaves Cricket Bro behind!

Is this the new style of Heroic Rescue, where the hero goes in front, then tells the rescue victim to grab the rope behind him!? Normally, a classic hero would stay behind and ensure the rescue victim is first holding on to the rope and/or safely tied to it. Then the hero pulls them out! I must be behind the times.

Still, it is surprising that Cricket Bro can find it in him to let go of that column long enough—even when engulfed in a current of water threatening to wash him away—that he can throw out some self-deprecating humor! I didn’t know he had it in him, truth be told.

However, Cricket Bro must be ignorant of anatomy or too scared to think straight. Now, I’m no anatomist, myself, but I know that pecs (pectoral muscles) are chest muscles, not upper arm muscles (biceps). So let’s hope he didn’t get pectoral muscles grafted to his arms! BTW, there are such things as pectoral and bicep implants. They can be very useful after suffering physical damage, but they are sometimes done for cosmetic reasons! You have to be pretty vain to put yourself through that much pain and expense.

Art Dept. Don’t ask me to explain the crawfish in panel 1. I’m not sure how it can swim sideways, much less swim on top of the water. This kind of symbolic imagery is something we would see in early symbolic art, as found in the tombs of ancient Egypt. If Jules Rivera wanted to show some sea life swimming by in a somewhat realistic manner, an eel or catfish would have been a better choice.
